We bought this ice cream maker because we wanted a higher quality ice cream without all the added ingredients and store bought sugar. We made 3 different batches (vanilla, blueberry and strawberry) and they turned out great. A note: the bath should stand in the freezer for several hours at a freezing temperature of 0 degrees. a little higher, and ice won't work, it'll be more like mud. We also learned that the machine must be on when pouring the ingredients. If you move the mixer for too long, the cream can freeze in the bucket and make it difficult to work with. The first batch - the machine only emitted a slight hum, which was easily masked by the usual volume of the TV. Excellent vanilla ice cream. The second batch is LOUD. It looked like the bearings on the car were going to fail. I removed the bathtub and let it run with no load but it was still noisy. Still done and enjoyed. The third part - started again with a slight hum, but got a little louder over time. Strange. Also why 4 stars instead of 5. Machines may not last very long if they are already noisy. Making your own ice cream is more expensive than buying it from a store, but I think it's worth the small extra cost to control what goes into the final product. I think it was a good buy. Fingers crossed for noise.
