This is my first ice cream maker. I've wanted to buy it for a long time and all the positive reviews made me buy it. I am happy to report that I was not disappointed. The machine is a bit noisy, but that's the only downside I can really think of. Almost as good as it promises, makes great frozen treats, only downside is the timing. It seems about double what they say, usually takes 45-60 minutes. I like that it's pretty easy, I don't have to worry about ice and rock salt, you just have to plan ahead to keep the container frozen (but that's no surprise). We bought this ice cream maker because we wanted a higher quality ice cream without all the added ingredients and store bought sugar. This is a very good ice maker in its class (home use, freezer). I had the 1 1/2 quart Cusinart model and loved it. Then someone at my house put the drum in the dishwasher and I found out trying to make a batch of ice cream that didn't freeze.
