Works great, just use as directed

Any people who continue to berate this device in reviews should step back and understand what this product really is. It does not have a built-in compressor, a model with it costs 5-10 times more. Of course, hard ice cream straight from the freezer is not possible. It's not meant for that. What this will do is take a *properly followed* recipe and turn it into a smooth portion with the perfect texture. What I mean is if the recipe calls for you to thicken your custard over heat and then chill…

Works great in small devices

This is my first ice cream maker. I've wanted to buy it for a long time and all the positive reviews made me buy it. I am happy to report that I was not disappointed. The machine is a bit noisy, but that's the only downside I can really think of. The first ice cream we tried was Ben n Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream, which was made with real cherries and dark chocolate chips. The ice cream froze well and was delicious. Since then, we've also made a Blueberry Graham Cracker Cheesecake and a…

Great Ice Cream Maker Product

Almost as good as it promises, makes great frozen treats, only downside is the timing. It seems about double what they say, usually takes 45-60 minutes. I like that it's pretty easy, I don't have to worry about ice and rock salt, you just have to plan ahead to keep the container frozen (but that's no surprise). The machine is surprisingly quiet, the first time I used it I was making ice cream while we were having dinner and it was running just a few feet from the table and we didn't even notice

Pros
  • Freezer temperature must be set to 0°F to ensure all food freezes properly.
Cons
  • Not sure

Couldn't be more disappointed!

Prior to this ice cream maker, I have never been disappointed with Cuisinart products. I've had a little one for many years, have used it several times and have absolutely fallen in love. I'm pretty sure I made ice cream with a small ice cream cone at least once a week during the hot months (and sometimes cold months). I decided that I would like to make ice cream for a larger company, so I had no doubts that the big one would be different than the small one. Am I wrong? It just doesn't freeze…

Better than store bought

We bought this ice cream maker because we wanted a higher quality ice cream without all the added ingredients and store bought sugar. We made 3 different batches (vanilla, blueberry and strawberry) and they turned out great. A note: the bath should stand in the freezer for several hours at a freezing temperature of 0 degrees. a little higher, and ice won't work, it'll be more like mud. We also learned that the machine must be on when pouring the ingredients. If you move the mixer for too long…

Great ice machine, know how to take care of it, you will be rewarded.

This is a very good ice maker in its class (home use, freezer). I had the 1 1/2 quart Cusinart model and loved it. Then someone at my house put the drum in the dishwasher and I found out trying to make a batch of ice cream that didn't freeze. With the 1 1/2 liter model, I've always reduced recipes or hovered over ice cream when hit with a spoon and stole ice cream with full spoons as it threatened to overfill the ice cream maker because I overfilled it (didn't that I would have overfilled…
