I bought a freeze dryer for harvest, medium. The trays on this site cost $69, so I was looking for something a little more affordable. These trays are heavy like the others and they are stainless steel rather than aluminum which is important to me. Two of these shells are an average size of the other. And here's the thing: when freeze-drying, it is important that there is no solid mass of the product, freezing on it and then laying it on a registration tray will break down the solid mass. We also sometimes put two trays in the FD instead of one. They fit. They work. And I will buy another set. 1. Because they are smaller and fit in smaller FULL freezers to freeze food. and 2. they are MUCH cheaper.
