Second update for verification. Well, it was replaced while under warranty and now the replacement behaves like the original, but now it's out of warranty. Just like the first time, it just loses wireless connection for no apparent reason, and it loses internet connection regularly too. As before, a reboot restores functionality. The first worked fine for the first 6 months then it started going haywire, the new replacement worked fine for about the same amount before it started going haywire. Needless to say I will never buy Netgear again unless there is a viable alternative that is certified to work with Cox cables. First review update. The modem was getting worse and I called again and got an agreement to have it replaced. So got a new one and so far it seems to be working. Initially both Up/Down lights were blinking, but after a few days only one blinks and the other stays on. Nobody seems to know what that means, if at all. First review. I think it works, but maybe not quite right. After about 7 months, the downstream indicator will stop flashing continuously, but the upstream and downstream indicators will flash. When I google this I see that others have had the same experience. I'm getting intermittent "No Internet" alerts and I'm not connected. it may take 10 seconds to 2 minutes and then it works again. What's really weird is that computers running from this modem over the wired ethernet have no problem, but devices connected to its wireless side lose connection for short periods of time, something like that never happened to my old modem happens / wireless router. I took out the box and checked it, they gave it a one year warranty so it was still under warranty. Went to the Netgear website and looked for a number to call but they just don't give a number to call. They say they only offer phone support for 90 days, after that you have to pay for everything. About contacting for warranty repairs they say ZERO. After looking for a warranty number on their website I called the toll free support number and told the guy I called that he would have it replaced under warranty. He had me check this and that and do a ping test. He passed the ping test and says he's fine. And he might be right, the problem might be with my ISP. They didn't help much either. Neither the guy at NetGear nor Cox Internet seemed to know what it meant when the light was blinking instead of being on all the time like it used to be. So maybe the modem is ok, maybe not. I will almost certainly never buy a Net Gear product again just because they try to limit the one year warranty to 90 days which means you have to pay for it AND because they make it so difficult to know who I am should call at all.
