Brita filters won't fail after more than a year and a half

This filter has done a great job of retaining water that requires a sufficient amount of jug. I replaced the regular Brita filter with a Longlast. We got maybe 1 month, 2 heights out of each Longlast compared to the "up to 6 months" they advertise. I recently got a couple more Longlast filters and carried on my usual chitchat by doing a couple of refills with the new filter and then spitting out the water for us to enjoy drinking. However, due to the frequency of water consumption in our household, we need to constantly add water and keep it in the jug as much as possible. This allowed us to provide enough water to drink for those who needed it next time. That's when I noticed that when the jug was filled to the bottom of the tank, the filters started to float or float. We only poured our water for the top cap to come loose as the water and filter fell out the end of the tank. The filter was reinstalled (again correctly with the groove aligned with the slot on the filter). We lowered it as far as possible and tried to refill the pitcher. Now it looks like the Longlast filters we put in from the same pack just float when the water level reaches a certain point. To get around this, we had to place a shot glass between the "cap" and the top of the filter; From there, all we know is to grab the top of the pitcher to hold it while we pour the water safely. Personally, I wouldn't mind if there was a way to "lock" the filters in place. We're looking for alternatives where the filters don't require any tricks and just snap into place.
