My tetras love swimming in this environment. The wave generator acts like a wave, with strong pumps and small pumps constantly alternating. Pretty strong and thick for my 60 gallons so I suggest anchoring your plants well. Or it could look like a hurricane in your aquarium. Super-super-quiet, but if you're in a very, very quiet room, you might hear a very faint buzz if your ears are close to the pump. That's all. I wish it had a sponge to keep dirt out, but that's an easy fix. It makes me paranoid about my longfin fish swimming near it. Destroys dead zones accurately. And a little on Thicc size. Overall great product
