Received a toilet seat today and couldn't be happier. I was so happy to get rid of my disgusting wood paneled seat that I installed it as soon as it arrived. My old wood was not "rough" in the sense that it was dirty, rather the black/brown stains were not removed by any cleaning as the white trim was worn away with use. We have had the same toilet seat for 6 years so you can imagine how much trim has worn away. I was very embarrassed that someone came because I didn't want them to see this place. Anyway, my old one was "Easy-Latch" with hinges that you just slide to the left and remove the seat, so I had to unscrew the easy-latch mechanism to install this seat. The instructions were very clear and very easy for a 28 year old DIY enthusiast. The directions also offer alternate directions for those of us with hard-to-reach toilets (cleaning the bathroom is a nightmare, but I digress). I have a basic toolbox and these tools were more than enough to install. I think the only thing I see wrong with it is that it doesn't close that easily, it just gets stuck in any position. They leave it inside, half closed, fully closed, raised but not fully raised etc. I think it's better than slamming at 3am? Perhaps over time it will "relax" and the slow closing mechanism will work. I cannot describe how happy I am to see that the seat looks clean with no black/brown spots/impurities. The dark brown stains in my bathroom are gone now. Life is good!
