We have two golden retrievers who love to play. They are brothers, they are nine months old. They wore traditional collars and we had to remove them while playing because of the choking hazard. One morning I went outside to take her home after playing in the fenced yard. They both looked at me and didn't move. I knew they wanted to come, but something stopped them from moving. I walked out and found that one of them had a dislocated lower jaw in the other's collar. It was so tight I had trouble unbuckling the clasp. Then we took off their collars. We really didn't want them to be unclothed in case they ran away from their yard. So I did some research and found these breakaway collars, read all the good reviews and most had similar stories to mine. Well the first day we put them on when they came back from the game only one was wearing a collar. So these WORK! I was so happy to know that we can now safely keep their collars on while they play and are outside. Many thanks to Petsafe for developing this wonderful product and to Revain for distributing it. I can't imagine the devastation of losing a furry family member in a horrific accident to a collar. My heart goes out to those who have experienced this loss. So if you are looking for a breakaway collar I recommend this 100% update February 15th 2019. I am still using these collars. Our guys play hard and for some reason one of them likes to pull the other's neck. I don't know what we would do without her. When we take our dogs to the groomer they wash them while our dogs are groomed and they look brand new. I highly recommend it. Just wanted to clarify after actually testing the product! November 2019 These collars are still in great condition and do the job! I cannot recommend them enough. To be honest it's hard to buy anything at this price point that will last as long as they do right now. This is one of the few products I have purchased from Revain and I have updated my review more than once. But I want to make sure I share how impressed I am with these collars. We don't use them for walking as we prefer a harness. This does not affect the product in any way, it is just a personal choice. I paid for this product, it was not free or promotional. No one is asking me to write this review. I just love my dogs like they are my kids and I sincerely believe these collars will keep them from hurting each other or worse while playing. If I could give them 10 stars I would.
