I bought this as a resting place for a Logitech wireless multimedia keyboard on a second computer so the keyboard is out of the way when not in use. Works very well for my needs. I installed this mount on the back of an old 27" LED display (ViewSonic). Despite being a small display, I was only able to use one of the VESA mounting points to attach this mount (i.e. only one screw holds this in place). On my keyboard, this bracket wobbles a bit due to the thinner pressed metal. The platform itself is relatively small (8" x 8") and has a protrusion on the front. I can't comment on how well this would work for a DVD player or similar sized media device, but I suspect you might want to consider some sort of anti-slip mat to keep the device from sliding off the platform.
