Review on Pacesetter 750044 Replacement Manifold Converter by Ken Booker

Will replace the stock header but not without minor modifications

First of all, while not a professional auto mechanic, I am a professional aircraft mechanic with an FAA license and consider myself fairly experienced with cars. I replaced CAT on my 2003 Toyota Solara due to OBDII code 0421 (inefficient catalyst bank 1). After installing this collector, I was able to clean up my code and it successfully passed the outlier tests. I was pleased with this item primarily because of its price. I considered buying the original header, but the lowest price I could find was around $600, so I decided to take a chance. No new gaskets were included, so plan on adding about $30 to the total cost. No new stallions have arrived either. You can replace the studs with screws, but I chose to remove the studs (you'll need a stud puller or just two nuts) and reuse. It would also be a good idea to soak everything in PB Blaster or similar penetrating oil. I had a few minor issues with this item. None of them will make me not recommend this distributor, but be aware that it probably isn't as repairable as the OEM. Minor issues I encountered were with the bottom mounting brackets, heat shield brackets, and the fuel air sensor mounting positions. This manifold requires me to enlarge the bottom mounting bracket holes and the heat shield holes. This manifold doesn't look like it was built to the same tolerance for the mounting locations, but a step drill/drill set should be all you need to change the holes. It's not an easy project, but if you're an average mechanic and have a decent tool kit, then I highly recommend saving a few hundred bucks and installing this manifold. Much luck!
