This is one of the highest quality fine graters I've ever owned. I also have microplane graters but we keep breaking. I believe that leg and just general durability make it the best tool. I used this to grate cinnamon and nutmeg on the hard end of the spectrum and citrus peel and ginger on the softer end. Hard cheese is easy to grate, and if you rinse and wash it right away, it's easy to clean. A tip we learned a long time ago that goes great with this one is to freeze both the peeled garlic cloves and the ginger chunks. Take out a slice when you need it, grate it and all the juices stay inside as ice crystals to fully flavor your food! Both grate very well frozen!
