Review on Dorman 911 205 EGR Valve by Jason Unruh

Decided! 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Code P0406 - Faulty EGR Valve

My local shop was scanning my 2006 Ram 1500 when the 'Check Engine' light came on. It returned a faulty EGR code P0406. Ordered this replacement from Dorman and received it the next day (thanks Revain!) Watched a video on how to properly remove the old valve and install the new one. It must be tightened to factory specifications to ensure proper operation. The task is a little painful because these trucks sit quite high although mine is only a 2x4 but is otherwise doable for the average shade tree mechanic. You'll need a decent selection of sockets so you can choose the best ones for the job, as well as a variety of extensions, breakers and ratchets. I've used 1/4" 8mm and 10mm drives. There is a pulley along the way so a good selection of sockets and extenders is a good idea. I didn't have to use penetrating fluid even though my truck has over 180,000 miles on it , but every situation is different. To learn how to remove and then install a new EGR valve, just watch a YouTube video and take your time. It also helps to work in a well-lit area Anyway I installed a Dorman EGR valve, started the truck and the 'Check Engine' light is out The truck starts right up with no problems Love the fact that this block comes with the right gaskets and new screws. Hope this helps.
