I bought this switch to replace my existing IOGear USB/KM switch. This switch only connects to 2 systems and I needed something that would allow me to switch between at least 3 systems. The box itself is well constructed and generally suitable for my needs. However, there was an issue with the USB-A ports on the front, which can be used to connect a keyboard. The USB receiver for my Logitech mouse and keyboard did not simply plug in and out of the port. With the IOGear Switch, that wasn't a problem. When plugged in, the receiver should not make contact with the USB pins as it will only remain connected intermittently. After disconnecting, I had to move or press the receiver to reconnect it. Setting up the receiver multiple times was unsustainable and I believe this caused the USB pins to become corrupted as the receiver would sometimes disconnect from my computers afterwards if plugged in directly. This was something that didn't exist prior to using the new Switch, and I've regularly plugged it directly into computers. Just in case, I replaced one switch with another of the same model: same problem. I was ready to return it but couldn't find an alternative that suited me as well as this one. I decided to try the receiver with an extension cord. As with the receiver, this extension cord was very tight, but I figured if it damaged the cord instead of the receiver there would be fewer problems. In addition, I was able to remove the handset correctly plugged into the cable without further damage. Unfortunately, the cable still had problems connecting, although it didn't disconnect as often. I suggested that perhaps the damage to the receiver could be greater than expected. To solve this problem I ordered a new Logitech Unifying receiver and new USB extenders https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXZQSCN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. These cables fit snugly into the ports without suffering from any of the issues I had with the original receiver or cable. The switch is now working fine with no shutdown issues. Overall I think this is a good switch with a solid build. It's unfortunate that a small defect in the connector assembly can lead to connectivity issues and potential damage to the accessory's USB port. I would not connect a storage device directly to this switch for fear of data loss. Luckily I found a suitable option to use it with a keyboard/mouse and possibly other accessories.
