Side pods are especially good for small bike frames where loading/unloading water bottles straight up and down is difficult if not impossible. Water bottles slide in or out of these cages at an angle, and Lezyne cages are flexible enough to hold their shape. They come as a pair: 1 left and 1 right inlet in opposite directions when both are mounted on the down tube (upper side), or 1 upper down tube and 1 down tube down. However, they have the same direction when mounted 1 on the down tube and 1 on the seat tube. The downside is that these cells are heavy (84g). The "composite matrix" is basically just fancy plastic.
