Pocket magnet detector that correctly detects the "North" and "South" pole of a magnet. Easy to use: Bring the working end to the magnet, press the button and you will hear a beep and the red or green LED will light up depending on the magnetic pole detected. Works with rather weak magnets, for example in toy motors. The beep is pretty loud and it would be nice to be able to turn it off, but I can live with that. The device is lightweight, compact and fairly durable. What cost it a star is the battery situation. The device uses four button cells, which are the main PITA - it took me 20 minutes of fiddling to fit them into the oddly shaped battery compartment. When it comes time to swap out the cells, there's a situation where you need to fit four $3 cells ($12 total) into a $15 device. It would be much more convenient and cheaper if they did this to work with, for example, a single "N" cell or even a standard AAA cell. But. It is what it is, it does what it's supposed to do and I expect it to last a long time without abuse.
