I have an Alienware 17R4, a heavy laptop with a very rear back, using the stand properly does little to support my laptop, it is very flimsy and I need to keep the stand at the right angle . However, swinging the stand back worked, the lip that holds most laptops is near the back of my laptop which elevated my laptop on the platter (I think it's better for airflow) and I had to too rotate the hinges HARD to keep the laptop upright. it worked with these settings. Excellent.
