I often workout after work and am trying to gain strength, so I started looking for pre-workout supplements to give me energy after a long day would give. The downside of most store bought supplements is that they have so many fillers and they ALL have LOTS of caffeine (which I can't take in the afternoon when I want to get a good night's sleep). By purchasing each component separately from supplements in bulk, I can create my own caffeine-free pre-workout blend with no additives. After extensive research (and no I'm not a pro so I'm not advocating the following, if it doesn't work for you do your own research!) here is a list of the ingredients I use: was a caffeine substitute for me - it has definitely a strong beet flavor but I like that it makes up for the lack of flavor from the other ingredients. Sometimes I add coconut sugar for sweetness to balance out the strength of the beets. > Beta-Alanine: Studies show it helps fight muscle fatigue and increase muscle endurance during high-intensity exercise. > Creatine Monohydrate: Most exercise scientists think that creatine is the number one nutritional supplement for increasing strength and power > L-Citrulline: Citrulline increases blood flow to body tissues. Research shows that during exercise it can help provide your muscles with the oxygen and nutrients they need, as well as stimulate muscle endurance and reduce muscle soreness > BCAAs: to aid recovery. Often taken post-workout but has the same benefits as pre-workout > Theanine: Increases alertness and reaction time and has a calming effect, so it's great for day/night workouts. It has also been found to stack well with pre-workout caffeine. I mix all the ingredients in a large mason jar because it would be tiring to add a little bit of all the sachets every day! Since you are also working with powder, the zipper gets in the way, so it is not recommended to open it every day.
