It is as new as the day I received it except the edges of the leash are frayed. And that's a nice feature, because it feels smooth and buttery soft when you pick it up! It is similar to expensive leather gloves. Also, the main difference between leather and nylon leashes is that when you lunge, the nylon leash goes through your hands causing painful friction burns. Leather leashes don't have this problem, so military and security dog teams use leather leashes. I haven't had any quality issues because it's woven in such a way that there's nowhere for it to fall apart. This leash easily lasts 10+ years. In a world where you usually get less than what you pay for and expect, this leash will satisfy you in every way!
