It's just really small. The girl in the picture must have been shrunk almost to doll size or photoshopped her onto the stairs. There's a lot of recoil here... so if you're not careful you'll almost tip over trying to get up. I would recommend not putting the base directly under the plate... Move the anchor point back at an angle of at least 20-30 degrees and you'll come straight up. Again, it's small and once you get your foot in, the width decreases as you step on the rope (as you'd expect), so plan accordingly.
