It's not really a hard case, it's a semi-rigid case, more flexible than a hard case and not very hard or I would say strong. This case, in my opinion, does not offer serious protection against strong bumps and shocks. Although I didn't actually measure the internal dimensions listed as 4.8 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, and 3 inches high, my Seagate 1.5 TB expansion drive measures 4.75 x 3.25 x 0.75 inches and wouldn't fit without stretching it. Length and width. My smaller Seagate backup drive plus a skinny 2TB expansion drive that is 4.5 inches long, 3 inches wide, and half an inch high fit quite nicely in both length and width. Its external dimensions are only 1 1/2 inches in height. When I had my smaller drive installed along with the 6" or 8" patch cord, it was difficult to close, and that doesn't even include USB sticks or memory cards that you might want to plug in. I just tucked a crappy fabric candle in with a carabiner so it fits snugly even on a little ride. Definitely carry more, and if you want really serious protection, try to find something with a really hard shell rather than the soft, pliable plastic this is made of. For the price, and for a smaller drive that doesn't really need serious hit protection, I don't think it's a bad price, but I'm a bit disappointed.
