Bad quality or defect?

We bought these shoes on August 26, 2018. They were worn once a week (so worn very little) for an hour-long dance class and four performances in a musical in mid-October. The outside of the right boot is peeling off and peeling off. The shoes appear to be defective as it only happens on one shoe, but they have the same signs of wear. There have been several reviews mentioning the same issue since purchase, so maybe this is a "bad batch" of shoes. We have never had a problem with Capezio shoes. I am very disappointed in this product.
