Review on InFocus Corporation Universal Ceiling Projector by Enoch Sahay

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great all rounder but ridiculously redesigned for my needs

I needed to mount a lightweight infocus projector on the ceiling of a conference room. Previously installed projectors of a similar size that we have installed had a small plate with appropriately spaced mounting holes attached to the top of the projector. This plate is then attached to the part that attaches to the downpipe/ceiling pipe. THIS mount is 4 times the weight, 4 almost infinitely adjustable arms (nice but too much for me and only 3 of those are needed for this small projector), two more plates (which I can't understand WHY it's worth it ). everything but the essentials as this thing is engineered so can't be discounted.) But I couldn't find a simple projector mounting plate so I ordered this ridiculously redesigned thing. (Remember, I'm saying this in relation to MY situation, not a general situation where such a universal mount would be necessary/useful.) Also, the cost of all this nonsense was almost 50% of the cost of our projector. Reuse. Downpipe and ceiling flange (not included) add to the cost. Ah, special items at special prices. To be fair, you have to hear from someone who has found this versatile mount particularly helpful in a tricky mounting situation. . My 4 pound projector is not the case. Infocus should offer a $20 ceiling mount option for these lightweight projectors. By the way, I bought this mount on the recommendation of Infocus.
