Didn't know before purchasing that according to the instructions that came with this unit it cannot be left on when it is off. This turns out to be good advice, because the dial is so crappy that you can't be sure it's off when you turn the dial all the way. Normally you would expect the click and light to go out when the device was powered off. This one just sort of shrinks in the general direction and probably won't turn off unless it's off. Since the 1/4 dial on the bottom end doesn't heat up most of the time, there's no way of knowing when it's heating up and when it isn't. There are no markings on the dial so we counted the ridges to find a good low setting, but each time we use it at that setting it generates a different amount of heat. . . usually NOTHING. So, we're done playing around and guessing with the watch face. Bought because of the brand but now that name means poor quality to us.
