Review on Alfie Shine Enriched Natural Leather by Andrea Gleason

Revainrating 5 out of 5

great results for hobbyists too

I am not a professional restorer or craftsman, but I make leather goods as an amateur and I also keep a personal collection of vintage firearms, airguns, knives and other hunting and hunting items Field tools I have used Alfie Shine both as a finish and as a preservative on almost the entire range of materials they are made from. achieve very good and predictable results. I have yet to encounter any material that discolours, does not tend to impregnate porous materials or penetrate mating surfaces, and this behavior is consistent with repeated use - tufted leather is an exception. Of course, brushed leather surfaces will darken slightly as the fibers are coated and bonded together. The resulting finish is very suitable for antiques and new items that you want to give a "timeless" look. It's a little hard to describe the effect other than it looks like a real patina. This is particularly useful when it comes to completing repairs and adding new components when restoring an item, as it helps make them fit together much better than you would expect. In addition, the pleasant scent and the sealing properties of the wax counteract musty odors.

Pros
  • Wood conditioners, waxes and oils
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
