My car is black and after a rear impact I decided I needed a little more visibility. I'm not sure if a reflective number plate would have made a difference, but I couldn't get a white car at the time and wanted to do something to at least try to avoid a repeat. I didn't want my car to look gaudy and nothing permanent, and I didn't want an expensive solution like aftermarket headlights. I ordered this and I would say the reflectivity is higher than a regular bike reflector but not as good as a reflective tape or daytime vest. It was just what I needed to add some reflectivity to the back without being sticky or permanent.
