I live in South Florida and last year I was caught (Irma) not being able to evacuate with my dog because I couldn't have a stretcher that I could, well, actually carry your dog. This is a 16 pound Chihuahua, and this year I looked at smaller carriers at local pet stores, but didn't want him to be flattened, unable to stand up, or turn around - especially since shelters that accept dogs (NO IN PORT SAINT LUCIE, WHAT IS A TRAVESTIA) require that they be kept in carriers. But I hoped that if I had this porter, if I had this porter, I would be able to find housing that would accommodate us. I needed one big enough for him to stand up and/or turn around. After a few missteps and backtracking I found this one. It's so easy to set up (just connect two poles inside and voila!) and it's so well made. This is the stuff I like more than the stiff ones. It has straps on top for carrying - at 5ft 2" I need help to carry it inside with the dog but it works. I highly recommend this dog carrier. Includes lambswool lining. nice gesture. No need to buy one that fits.
