Review on Samsung BD D5700 Blu Ray Player Black by Jon Thompson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I bought a refurbished one, but I think the new one is worth the price.

I bought it refurbished here at Revain. Came with a corner chipped off but I taped it back. Only one flaw, the DVD player works perfectly. It probably happened during delivery. If you're buying this new device, then don't worry. I like this device because it can read all my movies in AVI/XVID/MP4/WMV format as well as MP3 format. It streams very well from PC and the Netflix application doesn't slow down after the latest firmware update. It gets a solid 3 out of 5 (flawless 720p HD streaming) from my new N router with 4 built-in antennas, about 25ft over 2 walls, so the built-in Wi-Fi is fine for most single-family homes (especially if the router is in the middle stands) and will probably work in all apartments. It also features USB so you can watch movies without streaming if you need to. This replaced a brand new Panasonic Blu-ray player that couldn't even get 2 out of 5 Wi-Fi bars at the same distance. I would highly recommend this device over Panasonic as it seems they use low power Wi-Fi adapters. It's easy to set up streaming from a Windows 7 PC in just a few simple steps, no software is required on the computer other than Windows Media Player that comes with Windows. I can't say how it will work on Vista/XP or Mac, but I'm sure it will work one way or the other. I couldn't set up my Xbox 360 to stream from my computer but this device was easy so take it for what it's worth!
