Review on TORCHSTAR 12 Pack Recessed Remodel Housing by Jeff Kersey

Much better than those available at Home Depot or Lowe's

These slip rings are, in my opinion, much better than those available at Home Depot or Lowe's for a number of reasons, and they are much cheaper. I've included a picture of the TorchStar fairing on the left and the store-bought fairing on the right. Store-bought is very plastic, discolors over time and seems impossible to clean. The Torchstar finish is made of thin metal and has a very smooth surface that is always easy to clean. The torch star fairing has a hole that houses the bulbs that is precisely tailored to the dimensions of the bulbs for these lanterns, ensuring a snug fit. The rest from the magazine has a wider opening, leaving a gap between the butt and the rest. The torch star fairing comes with a foam pad that seals the ceiling well while the ones I bought from the store don't and some of them don't fit snugly to the ceiling or get wobbly over time. Overall, the Touch Star trim seems much simpler in design but more functional, stays ultra white, and looks better. The store bought ones were $20 each and looked really bad.

  • Electric
Cons
  • Very Expensive
