I bought it for my father so that he didn't have to change the cartridge in the fridge. We have very bad water in the city and the filters get clogged up pretty quickly. At $45 each, this can get expensive. They taste the water great and don't block the flow rate much. The charcoal is made from coconut shell, which is considered to be one of the best on the market. You will need to go to the unit and grab all the fittings that fit it and your lines, but this is secondary and can be reused in future cartridge replacements. Good product.
