Delta lists this as a replacement part for the 36-979 Table Saw Paddle Switch Toggle Switch. Although electrically equivalent and in the same package size, this is not an adequate replacement. The switch fits into a hole in the front of the box, but that's where the compatibility ends. The toggle portion of the switch bears little resemblance to the original, meaning the safety paddle doesn't actuate the switch to turn it off. Pushing the paddle down does not successfully move the switch to the off position. This means you have to either lift the paddle or put your hand underneath it to turn off the switch, which disables the paddle's safety feature. Or you may have to remove the paddle and just flip the switch in a way that violates the safety function again. I'll go back and pay a little more for a new complete stem assembly that will require a new box and some rewiring work. There is nothing wrong with the switch or the seller, it is just an inadequate replacement as it breaks the security function.
