Most sponges give off a terrible smell in a short period of time. I've been using them for years and have never had any problems with them. They last a long time. Mine get dirty from the coffee but I don't care because they still work fine. If they look too bad I just use them to clean up the sink or clean up spills. I highly recommend them because they never smell and last as good.
