Beware of Custom Applications

I purchased this damper for a Jeep Comanche with a rear modification that required a shorter damper than the stock application. I went to the Monroe website and took a good look at the PDF specs available on their website. According to the written specification it should have worked, but it didn't. I measured it with a tape measure and it was a few inches longer than advertised. I contacted Monroe support and was given a third set of specs that don't match the shock or the Monroe website. By this point I had lost my patience and took my tape measure to my local parts store and found a suitable competitor damper. I find it hard to believe that a company of this size can't publish accurate specs. If you need it for non-standard purposes, trust the roulette wheel and your eyes, not the Monroe website. To be honest, I also found that the other no-name shocks didn't meet published specs on about half of the shocks I measured. The seller was amazed at the differences between the published folded and extended lengths compared to the actual lengths. If you're looking for a default app, please ignore this review as I'm sure it has tolerances built in to keep you out of trouble.
