Malfunction. Not recommended

The quality of the Monroe shock absorbers is very poor. One is leaking on arrival. I absolutely cannot recommend this brand.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons

Fits WD21 Pathfinder

Fits 1995 WD21 Pathfinder. Great for the price. Stiffer shock absorbers may be required for other purposes. I use it as a diary and do not ride off-road.

Doesn't work as a couple,

I have been working as a mechanic for 32 years. I've never been sold a damper in the singular. Make sure you don't think you're buying a PAIR of shocks like you normally would. At this price you are only buying 1 (single) damper, not a pair. Otherwise, this is the quality you would expect from Monroe.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Not reliable

I'm happy with these Frontier shocks. Have a good trip at a good price.

Works great. Nice smooth ride on the back of my Frontier now. I also want to buy a pair of Monroes in the front. A word of caution. The right rear shock absorber is a serious pain to replace the stabilizer bar and tire on the go. I think my granddaughter learned some new phrases that will piss off her mom.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Beware of Custom Applications

I purchased this damper for a Jeep Comanche with a rear modification that required a shorter damper than the stock application. I went to the Monroe website and took a good look at the PDF specs available on their website. According to the written specification it should have worked, but it didn't. I measured it with a tape measure and it was a few inches longer than advertised. I contacted Monroe support and was given a third set of specs that don't match the shock or the Monroe website. By…
