Review on Fostex T50RP MK3 Semi-Open 🎧 Studio Headphones, Designed for Professional Use by Kio Kun ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No minuses as such, comfortable to use.

In general, this model, first of all, has a very attractive price. They are suitable for monitoring at home or in a semi-professional studio. The sound of the ears is honest, the main thing is that the source matches them. Minus 1 point for low comfort.

Pros
  • Low distortion due to isodynamic driver. Long detachable wires for standard 3.5 and studio 6.3 jack. Both wires are of good quality, the braids are not thin, in orange (3.5 jack) it is rubberized and elastic, the wire does not twist. At 6.5 jack, it is generally three meters and soft enough, it is not afraid of medium bends Smooth, monitor sound (see disadvantages) Flexible headband adjustment. A fairly low price for a headphone with such emitters. Fun, semi-retro design.
Cons
  • There is little comfort, because of the completely β€œnon-breathing” ear cushions made with leatherette, the ears sweat. In addition, they are quite thin, the auricle literally falls into the cups. I understand that they are removable and can be replaced, but it's nicer when there are normal ear pads "out of the box". Landing at first was hard for me, pressed, but this is after the light Audio Tecnica ATH-MSR7B. The weight. I did not break my neck, not directly heavy, but noticeably heavier than dynamic emitters. Sound. Yes, it is smooth, the frequency response is impressive, the detail, the visibility of the instruments is excellent. BUT, the music plays rather dryly, there is no juiciness as on dynamic models of the same price segment. The stage sounds narrower than my previous Audio Tecnica. Through the Behringer U-PHORIA UMC404HD audio interface at the monitor input, the headphones swing well both in volume and in frequency characteristics, because for the same low frequencies a large current is needed for isodynamics, otherwise the sound will be even drier and without volume. Budget zvukovuhi and even a new generation of built-in a la Realtek will not pull these ears, let alone smartphones (let's be honest - they are not made for them).
