The antennas can only be connected to the base

They are not as useful as I had hoped. I thought the base was an SMA jack, but it's actually just a piece of threaded brass. I was hoping to connect them directly to rtl-sdr or my hackrf, but I can only use them through the base, which is particularly undesirable since there is some sort of malfunction in the base due to which the movement of the cables causes loss of reception . If I just wanted something to drive and the base would work I think it would be a great antenna kit.
