The starter is excellent the plastic gear is not so good
As others have said the plastic gear on this starter is the weakest link. My 16 HP Boxer Twin only lasted 1 week. The gear is too soft and warps causing it to bind and not engage properly. Do yourself a favor and order a genuine Briggs starter to replace with this one. The starter itself works great. It's about 1 inch longer than the stock starter, so I had to trim the heat shield.
