Review on πŸ”Š Alpine S-S65C S-Series 6.5-inch Component 2-Way Speakers: Reviews & Best Deals by Ryan Will

They sound great even if they have a hole in them.

I drive a 2004 Long Cab Silverado with no Bose option. When installing this product, I accidentally punched a small hole in the cone. I was very upset because I thought I ruined the whole speaker. However, after some research, clear nail polish, and paper towels, I quickly patched the hole and it sounded great. I'm actually surprised that there isn't a difference in sound between a damaged speaker and an undamaged speaker, but I'm not complaining. The self-tapping screws included in the kit are kind of crappy, and they're the reason I punched a hole in the first place. However, I replaced those screws with a simple nut and bolt and the mounting plate works well with absolutely no rattling on either side. The tweeters sound great and can even be rotated to any angle you want, giving them the potential to sound even better. The speakers themselves sound great, but there's really no bass. However, you're buying 6.5-inch speakers and you can't expect amazing bass up front. The addition of subwoofers quickly solved this problem for me, but this is a warning to those who expect good bass from these speakers, as that's not what they were designed for. All in all, these speakers were a wonderful upgrade from my 2004 speakers, and make a great sounding sound system in my truck.
