This is a very basic device but it's cheap, has a nice big screen and it always works. Please note that the chest strap does not work well and sometimes not at all unless your back gets wet or sweaty. This leads me to believe it may not work if you are fat (more tissue between the transducer and your heart). One of those two issues could explain the multiple "sensor not working" reviews here. If I don't wet him, he won't testify; When I do this, the readings are continuous and accurate. Also, the strap stays in place, which is not the case with some companies' straps I've used in the past.
