Works with Oculus Quest for Oculus Link!

Recently bought an Oculus Quest and really liked it. I was keen to try the Oculus Link feature, but didn't have any cables that would work with it. Since the official Oculus Link cable is sold out everywhere except for people charging $250 for an $80 cable, which is already overpriced, I had to buy something else. I did some research and ordered different cables that people suggested to me. This cable is the only cable that Oculus offers on its website. This cable is the only one that works with my computer. I have an Anker Powerline USB C to USB 3.0 cable connected to a CableCreation Active USB Extender. That worked great for me. This demonstrates achieving 1.8 Gb/s throughput with the Oculus software throughput test. So far he hasn't lost touch during the game. I have to admit that I only played about 5 hours with the Oculus Link feature and this setting. All other cables I bought didn't work with my computer and Oculus Quest for the Oculus Link feature. I bought a 10ft PartyLink cable and red anchor USB-C cables with a red braided cable that come in a two pack. No matter how I tried to set up the cables, I couldn't get them to work. Now I must confess that my computer was bought and built by me in 2012. This is an i7-3770K @ 4.3GHz 16GB RAM 980 ti with a motherboard that only has 4 USB 3.0 ports (2 front and 2 rear). I don't know if the USB 3.1 Gen1 or Gen2 ports will allow me to use other cables I buy. I'm buying a new computer as soon as I can get a new i9-10900K processor, so I'll leave the rest of the cables. I would also recommend getting an active USB extender from CableCreation. 10 feet might seem like enough for a VR game, but they really aren't. Thanks to the CableCreation Active USB extension cable, I now have a 26.4" cable and don't have to worry about tearing the cable out of my computer or VR headset. So if you're looking to buy a connection cable to use the Oculus Link feature on your Oculus Quest, get that cable and the CableCreation Active USB extender. It's best to get this feature working with enough cable length so it never ends.

Pros
  • Reversible connector. The convenient USB-C design allows you to insert the plug correctly every time.
Cons
  • sparse manual
