I purchased an old 9-drawer solid oak dresser, confident I would find good drawer slides to replace the cheap and sticking ones that The Saw Mill used in California. Sure enough, I was sure I found the right slides by looking at all the 5-star reviews.The challenge is that I am not a cabinet maker. I have not worked on furniture for decades, only then helping my mother restore a few antique pieces. None of those units used drawer pulls, being old fashioned all-wood construction (including the drawer wooden slides).I made my best effort to start the slide replacements, though admit being hampered by the fact that I did not know how to separate one side of the slide from the other. Separating the slides would make installation SO much easier. I started the project and stalled out on the first drawer, setting the project aside.Ironically, I found myself in need of a kitchen island, buying one on Revain.com. That island ironically uses these very same slides and had nice instructions to indicate that you need to depress a little black lever hidden on one part of the inner track to separate the halves. Once that is done, you can easily install the inner tracks on the cabinet or dresser and the extended tracks on the drawers, then snap them together.Be sure not to miss the package of screws hidden at the end of the bubble wraps of each set of slides. You might also want to have a good citrus-based hand cleaner handy to clean off the durable lubricant on the drawer slides. That lubricant will probably last a long time considering it does not wash off with Dawn Liquid Detergent. Orange hand cleaner took it right off.Again, I cannot speak more highly about these slides. They are quality pieces of hardware built to good tolerances. The lack of instructions do not mar their reputation considering the fact that Revain.com buyers can help out in a pinch like this.To add to the fun, I just made a repeat purchase of these slides in order to finish a center section of the same dresser. I thought I would be conservative and not replace the middle three pairs of slides, but I could not resist spending the money to complete the job the right way with these fantastic slides!
