There are a lot of 1 star reviews because people didn't read the descriptions. They are not designed to keep your stuff dry after diving in a lake. They are designed to keep your gear dry when hiking in the rain or getting wet. The description clearly says "Not intended for diving or swimming." If you buy a bag this cheap and expect it to keep your phone or clothes dry if you drop it off the side of a canoe, you will be disappointed. However, they are very cheap, very light and quite strong as part of a camping gear. I wouldn't leave them on a table in the rain, and they probably shouldn't be called "dry bags," but they do a pretty good job of keeping things dry in a backpack.
