Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Dell U2713HM 27 Inch High-Resolution LED Monitor (86Hz, โ€ŽCVN85) - Discontinued Model by James Hobson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OMG, Holy Cow, Hot Holy Blazes, this monitor is HOT!

Note. Edited 28 Mar 2014, corrected to indicate I'm using DVI and not HDMI for the full 2560x1440 resolution. I don't know the performance over HDMI and haven't tried it. My only reference to HDMI here reflects another reviewer's suggestion to use full resolution HDMI. Exaggeration but honestly I am 110% satisfied with this Dell U2713HM monitor! Having used a pair of 21" Dell UltraSharp monitors side by side for the past 5 years, I wanted to combine them into one widescreen monitor. For price reasons, I grabbed the Dell S2740L when I saw it on sale. from a local national retailer for about two hundred and forty plus taxes. The 2740 is a 27-inch widescreen IPS monitor with a glossy screen. The glare from the gloss was only slightly distracting as the incredible depth and clarity of the 1080p image just made me forget about any glare that was there. To be honest, the S2740L is beautiful, sleek and modern. Since 1080p was the highest resolution on this monitor, my icons and programs took up more screen real estate than I thought, prompting me to look for another monitor option. I've been using Dell Ultrasharp monitors for at least 10 years and can attest to the quality of every Ultrasharp monitor I've had; They were all of excellent quality. Since Dell recently introduced this one, the 2713, in the Ultrasharp range with LED backlighting and a resolution of 2560 x 1440, I expected this to be the way to go. Then I read user reviews here on Revain and asked if it could display resolutions higher than 1080p with any type of input and I was concerned. One reviewer emphatically stated that it would indeed be full resolution over HDMI. Considering Revain's excellent return policy, I thought it was worth a try. I unhooked the S2740L, ran new cables for the 2713, hooked it up to my computer's DVI-D cable and BINGO! Full resolution 2560x1440 instantly
