Much better than Carbide

I had to drill eight large holes in a shower tile. My master recommended us to start with a small carbide drill for tiles (Bosch). He also said that I should consider carbide bits as disposables. We started with an 1/8" drill bit with the idea that we could use screws when hitting a stud and didn't need big holes. I work with metal and I liked the Drillax concept of grinding with diamond instead of cutting with carbide. my shower was remodeled over an old shower. There were two layers of ceramic tile, metal slats and drywall. The carbide drill got dusty (sorry for the pun but it's accurate.) The drill ax went through all eight holes. No more fuss and looking ready. My master became a believer. Thanks to the other reviewers I made a template out of a piece of plywood. All the photos show drilling horizontal tiles, but penetrating a vertical wall worked well with a spray gun to round them to cool and lubricate drill.

Pros
  • Pilot Drill for soft materials such as wood, plastic and metal. This tool does not have a pilot drill. Pilot drill bits crack tile, glass, quartz, etc.
Cons
  • Cracked slightly
