Review on Senseo 78105 Coffee Maker, 40.6oz, ☕ Black: Experience Premium Brewing at its Finest by Susan Rolfs

Revainrating 4 out of 5

While the Philips HD20 was slightly better, I'm glad to see the new one and it's a lot better than the Chinese made ones.

If you cannot find an original Philips Senseo coffee machine or yours is no longer working properly or the replacement price is too high, then this coffee machine is for you is the next best thing. Not quite up to par with the original as the coffee is less frothy. It seems to me that the temperature is lower and the foam definitely doesn't last as long. Still, it's better than the Chinese-made cars they've been selling in recent years. This machine is made in Poland and has a smaller model number than my old Senseo, HD 7815/65 or 7820/70. By default, it brews relatively strong cups of coffee because the level is relatively low. The manual doesn't say how to set this level, but it can be done in the same way as the HD7820. Here's how to do it: 1) disable; 2) Press and hold the left and right side buttons when you plug the device back in, it should light up immediately; 3) Press the right button more than once for a noticeable increase or the left button for a decrease; 4) Power off. One of the differences between the new and old versions is that the new one comes with a capsule holder with a smaller outlet. Maybe that'll get them hot coffee - they don't let it spoil quickly. I still don't find it as hot as my old Philips and again the foam doesn't last as long. I know that just before production was moved to China, there was a major recall from a factory in Poland about potentially exploding boilers. While the odds were extremely slim, it may have been court cases or regulations that prevented them from returning to the same heat levels they had then. It is hotter than their subsequent Chinese-made models. If this was indeed a return to the original, the result would have been an A. Coffee is better and much cheaper than Kcups. Although the selection is smaller, we have a brand that we love - Melitta Medium Roast - and we use it all the time. Availability wasn't an issue through Revain or local Walmarts. So bravo to Senseo for bringing something good back.
