Seachem Reef Advantage

I have been slowly increasing the magnesium levels in my salt reef aquarium. But it takes a lot of things to actually change the Mg levels in a large aquarium. I'm aiming to get my levels down to 1375 ppm, but I've only seen 1200 at best, which is probably still fine. It's important to note that I started this Mg Boost job when my salt level was 1.022 g/mL, which was the reading from my local fish shop. The theory is that at lower levels, it reduces the likelihood of fish parasites. But my bird's nest coral was not happy at this level. More importantly, my Mg levels stayed at 900ppm and no matter how much Mg I added, they never went up. So I read on the website that salinity affects Mg. So when I increased the salt level to 1.026 g/ml, my Mg levels went up to 1200 with my dosage of these Mg crystals. So before attempting to increase your Mg level, make sure your salt level is at least 1.025 g/ml. ml to ensure you are not trying to raise it beyond a level it will never reach. Also note that there are other ways to build your own Mg reef tank without the high cost of Seachem. But I believe it's worth the extra cost of getting premixes and stable materials. If you want to make your own, just google "do it yourself magnesium". Also note that I am adding Seachem Reef Fusion I and 2 along with this Mg as there is not enough Mg from Reef Fusion to increase to ensure my Mg levels are in balance with my Ca and Kh levels Mirrors are what fuel the Reef Fusion foods.
