Review on πŸ’» PS07B Black Mini Tower Computer Case by Silverstone Tek: Micro-ATX Mini-DTX, Mini-ITX, Plastic with Aluminum Accent by Jeff Bundrick

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High quality mini tower!

I selected this micro ATX case for a customer. I had experience building a Temjin TJ08B-E at Silverstone so I knew what to expect. This case is the same as the Temjin above except as follows.1. This front of this case is made of plastic as opposed to the Temjin which is made of aluminum. This reduces costs.2. This case has two 120mm fans on the front instead of one huge 180mm fan.3. In this case, there is no 3.5-inch bay at the bottom front for a memory card reader like the Temjin.4. Access to the front dust filter is different in this case. You open the front door to reveal a large, removable air filter. The front air filter of the Temjin case is pushed out from both sides of the front of the case. More painful than in this case. Everything else in this case is identical to the Temjin model. The structure is exactly the same and the same parts are used as with the Temjin. Since they are the same, the internal layout and building process is the same. You get a nice magnetic air filter to which the power supply attaches for easy cleaning. Temjin since it's pretty much the same. I'll list them below: CONS: 1. The screws holding the top cover and motherboard tray along with the hard drive bay and stand are proprietary, very small screws. It is recommended to use a magnetic screwdriver. You can't just go to the hardware store and replace them. I can't understand why Silverstone chose to do this. I've never lost a single screw, but be aware. This also applies to Temjin's model.2. Some may be confused by the location of the fall. The motherboard is installed upside down.3. Serviceability - To install or replace the PSU, you have to remove the top, not to mention the optical drives. Also, the only SSD mount in this or Tejmin is on the bottom of the case where the socket and hard drive bay are located. Those are the sacrifices you make for such a small tower. ON THE FENCE A: The motherboard tray is detachable, which is really nice. Either way, you need it given the size of the suitcase and the space you have to work with. After reseating the motherboard tray, I had to adjust its position to get it right. It was a little tricky to line it up properly with the motherboard I/O shield. So keep that in mind as you may come across it. FOR 1. Great airflow like Temjin. The included fans are of a very high quality and the system is practically silent in my opinion.2. The material used is of excellent quality. Even the plastic front panel feels solid enough and looks good.3. Excellent cable management/cable room. I want to stress that you need to take your time and do proper cable management. This is not really a scam and you should still enjoy building your computer and take your time. Front panel USB 3.0 ports, power and reset buttons exude quality. They feel very solid. The power and reset buttons have a very pleasant click. They are not cheap like many cases. The USB ports and headphone/mic jacks feel very solid and won't break as you connect devices to them over the years. As with Tejmjin, the optical drive bay covers are very easy to remove and replace. Kudos to Silverstone. I want to keep this in mind, and Silverstone tells you in the excellent documentation, that there are limitations on the optical drive and power supply configuration. You have so much space between them when you install them. I installed a 430W EVGA PSU here and it works great. However, since it wasn't modular, I had to bundle unused cables into the space they allocate for cables in the case. I would recommend you to use a modular power supply. Silverstone has specific recommendations for one of their models when building this or Temjin. However, any modular or semi-modular power supply will work just fine. In conclusion, I think Silverstone has had a lot of results here and some not so well. But this is a quality mini-tower that stands head and shoulders above most others.
