I ordered this winch a few months ago and finally got around to using it. The problem I found was that I noticed a black "stickiness" on the sides of the reel and I couldn't wrap the cord loosely. I loosened three screws and removed the coil. I found that the o-rings on the sides of the reel were dented all over into a gooey mess. I emailed Superwinch but didn't get a reply so I went to their website to give them a call. I ended up chatting with someone and they said someone from the support team would be calling me soon. I didn't get a call either. I got tired of waiting for nothing to happen, so I pulled out Goo Gone and was able to clean up the mess. I measured the required o-ring size and ordered high performance oil and abrasion resistant o-rings from Mcmaster-Carr. I received the o-rings the next day and installed them with new gear lube and they work better than new ones. Update: I got a call back from Superwinch about a week after speaking to them and got a response today but I've already fixed it so I'm not sure what they could have done for me anyway. For now I'm giving it 3 stars until I do more testing and because I shouldn't have had this problem to begin with. With new o-rings and lube it now spins nice and free. The winch itself is pretty good. Having disassembled it, I expected better quality and the o-ring could be repaired. What really put me off was the customer service. It seems a constant that customer service goes downhill.
