Review on πŸ’§ Efficient Little 554415 Automatic Condensate Removal: A Reliable Solution for Removing Excess Moisture by Brendan Thorpe

Worth every penny!

Much easier to install than I originally thought! Like many of you reading this, I got tired of emptying or forgetting to empty the dehumidifier bucket and was constantly reminded of the smell of a musty basement. I also didn't want to spend a few hundred bucks more for a new dehumidifier with a built-in pump and no drain in the basement. For about $50 I was able to solve all the problems in one step by adding this external pump. I raised my dehumidifier off the floor, which also helps keep the filters from clogging with dirt and pet hair, and built a makeshift shelf for it to stand on. The standard garden hose was 18 inches later and ran straight into the base of the pump. The pump is so quiet I wouldn't have thought it was working unless I was watching the bubbles in the hose. I placed the pump on the same shelf next to the dehumidifier and ran the hose about 10 feet to a drying pipe in the basement. Since a dehumidifier can also use energy like an air conditioner, I also took a dual output mechanical timer and set it to run the pump and dehumidifier twice a day for 4 hours. As a result, the humidity in my basement has gone from over 75% to under 35% and stays there all the time. Best of all I don't have to think about changing buckets, it doesn't smell musty and it is actually energy and it saved me from buying a new dehumidifier. Very satisfied with the ease of installation, the price of the product and its performance. I definitely recommend it!
