I have a little, very old dog that really doesn't like going out and really hates it when the weather is bad, so.I have a canopy that I decided to stretch from the landing of my covered porch over the steps and the grass at the bottom to the side fence where I attached a set of canopy poles and at the bottom used two of these bags at the pole's base to add weight and keep the pole secure should a wind try to take it. This gives my little old furgirl a protected area and also provides a bit more cooling shade when it's sunny and hot. I had a bag of pebbles left over from landscaping and used those instead of sand to fill these bags. They are heavy - at least for me - filled with the rocks and strapped around the poles, I feel confident that my shade sail won't try to go anywhere with the bags holding the poles down as well as the bags and the poles being strapped to the fence. The other side of the sail I have long bungee cords wrapped around the porch's upright 4x4s so the cords can give a bit with wind, but the bungee cords are very strong as well, so I'm pleased my old girl can go out without being rained on and that the shade cloth with stay put with the help of these weight bags. Working great!
