I bought this gasket to replace the exact same one that lasted almost 20 years. I don't iron as much as I used to so I figured it would last longer. After about three years, my ironing board marks started to show through, leaving waffle marks all over the fabric. I ended up buying a cotton swab to put between the board and the pad, but that didn't last long either. I don't use a steam iron, mostly just water spray or starch spray. My lid is a piece of heavy canvas so it's durable and disperses heat very well. I've been using this system for decades. My square plywood ironing board works great with this setup but with a different backing. Pads have not been changed since 1980! I will not buy this product again.
